

It is with deepest regrets and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Yvonne Meloncon Birdsall. She has left this earth to spend eternal life with our Lord God and Savior Jesus Christ and the family and friends who have passed before her.
Yvonne was born in New Orleans, La. on October 5, 1935 and passed away at East Jefferson General Hospital in Metairie, La. on June 5, 2026 at 3:30 p.m. She is survived by her four sons and their spouses and families:
Benjamin J. Birdsall, III (Terry); Brian G. Birdsall (Karen); Barry A. Birdsall (LaDonna Albert) and Brett E. Birdsall (Fiance’, Leann Giardina and family).
Yvonne was blessed with 4 grandchildren:
Benjamin J. Birdsall, IV (Kayla); Arianna M.A. Birdsall; Chelsey B. Casteix (Hugh Casteix, III “Trip”); Abigail B. Moroux (Dr. Damon M. Moroux, Jr.) and 2 Great Grandchildren Rhodes H. Moroux and Hugh Casteix, IV.
Yvonne is also survived by her sister, Beverly Monteleone (Edwin Monteleone, Sr. and Edwin Montelone, Jr., predeceased) and her children, Darlene McKnight, Stephen Montelone (Kristian) and Michael Montelone (Victoria) and many other family and friends too numerous to name.
Yvonne was a life long resident of the New Orleans area graduating from Redemptorist High School in 1954. She was married to the late Benjamin J. Birdsall, Jr. from 1958 through 1976, dedicating her life to raising her 4 sons. While raising her sons, Yvonne always made her home and home cooked meals available and welcome to many of her sons friends, earning her the affectionate nickname of “Momma B”. After Hurricane Katrina destroyed her family home on Pratt Dr. in New Orleans, she moved to Metairie where she resided for the remainder of her life. Yvonne will be fondly remembered in the hearts of many.
Visitation and Celebration of Yvonne’s life will be held at Saint Angela Merici Catholic Church, located at 835 Melody Dr., Metairie, La. on Friday, July 10, 2026 with visitation from 11:00 to 12:30 p.m., Eulogy / Words of Remembrance from 12:30 p.m. to 1:00 p.m., Church service at 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. with repass to follow.
