Yvonne Meyers Eckels

Yvonne was born in New Orleans, LA December 16, 1922 to Eugene and Jeannette Meyers. She went to be with Jesus September 21, 2016. She was a devoted and loving wife and mother. She loved her family with passion. It was a privilege and a blessing to be with her and care for her. She never complained and was always so grateful for anything you did for her. She always said she loved her family and Jesus with her whole heart, and that her heart was big enough to love the whole world. She did and it was. We were all blessed to share her life. She was love. She was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society of Holy Family Parish in Nazareth, PA. She was preceded in death by husband, Alvin Leo Eckels; siblings, Herman Meyers, Eugene Meyers Jr. and Marilyn Prestenbach. Survived by daughters, Jacquelyn Novoa and Carolyn (William) Horton; grandchildren, Manuel (Carolyn) Novoa III, Michael (Elizabeth) Novoa, Melissa Novoa, Stephanie (Michael) Babinski and Jason (Anne Marie) Portnoy; sister, Shirley Seghers. She is also survived by 12 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the night wake at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd., on Friday, September 30, 2016 from 6-8PM. The Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, October 1, 2016 at 12 Noon. Visitation will begin at 11AM until service time. Interment will follow in All Saints Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Intercessors of the Lamb Inc., 11811 Calhoun Rd.
