

Zoroastre “Buddy” “Butz” Hyver passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, September 4, 2018, at the age of 94, ten months after the death of his beloved wife of 75 years, Ida Giroir Hyver. He was preceded in death by his parents, Zoroastre U. and Marie Senac Hyver, and his sisters Pauline Yacich and Louise Tentou. Loving father of Wayne J. Hyver and Brian G. Hyver (Janet). Adoring grandfather of Tracie Hyver Brown (Scott).
Buddy was a parishioner of St. Ann Catholic Church in Metairie and St. Rita Catholic Church in Harahan. He was a Honorary Life Member in the Knights of Columbus for 29 years. His home council was Ludovicum Council #4663, Metairie. He was also a 4th Degree member in the Knights of Columbus Bishop Greco Assembly #2093. He was involved in multiple fundraisers and frequently volunteered his services over his 29 years in the Knights of Columbus.
He was a member of AARP Lakeshore Chapter #3902 serving as treasurer for many years while organizing and handling the bingo games and refreshments on the many bus trips to the Mississippi casinos.
Buddy retired in 1985 from Chevron Corp. Aircraft Operations at Lakefront Airport after 25 years as an aircraft mechanic. He was a World War II veteran and served four years in the Air Force.
The family would like to thank Carpenter House Hospice Care in River Ridge for the loving care and support of our father and grandfather.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd in New Orleans, on Friday, September 7, 2018 at 11 AM. Visitation will begin at 9 AM. Interment will follow Mass in All Saints Mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests Masses.
