

Catherine Y. Sampson passed away on July 17, 2020. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Lembo and was raised in Paterson, NJ with her sister, Elizabeth (Betty) Meyer (formerly of Oakland, NJ, deceased), brother, Carl Lembo (Magnolia, TX), and half-brother, Bernard Lembo (NJ). She graduated from Paterson East Side High School and attended Ramapo College of New Jersey. She celebrated 48 years married to Allan R. Sampson (deceased) and lived in Haskell and Pompton Lakes, NJ where they raised a family. They also lived in Columbus, NJ with a final move to New Port Richey, FL.
During the school years of her daughter, Judith Ann (Venskus-O’Brien, deceased) and son, Allan L. Sampson (Pennington, NJ), she was a ‘stay at home’ mom and was active in the parish life of St. Francis of Assisi Church. Afterwards she was employed at several private firms before working as a Service Representative with the Social Security Administration for the for 14 years before retiring.
After a move to New Port Richey, Catherine spent time volunteering at Cares (a non-profit) visiting with and assisting the at home elderly. Additionally, she again became active in parish activities at St. Thomas Aquinas Church as an assistant Sacristan, visiting the home bound and those in nursing homes. Catherine was also an active member of several parish faith organizations including Legion of Mary.
In addition to her brother, Carl and son, Allan and his wife, Stephanie, she is survived by three grandsons: Michael Venskus (Old Hickory, TN), Erik Venskus (Boston, MA) and Andrew Venskus (Weston, FL). She is also survived by three step-grandchildren: Alexandra Weaver, Carolyn Fippinger Recchia and David Fippinger.
