Born in Bland County, Virginia, on September 14, 1933, Claudine was a woman whose life was defined by caring for others and the deep love she held for her family. She pursued her education at Radford College, where she earned her R.N. degree, beginning a career in nursing that reflected her compassionate heart and dedication to helping others.
On February 19, 1953, Claudine married the love of her life, Douglas Gray Vickers. Together, they built a life centered on family, commitment, and lasting memories. Their years together represented a treasured chapter in her life, and the love they shared remained an important part of her story.
Claudine had a special place in her heart for her family. She treasured the time spent with those she loved and found happiness in the bonds that connected generations. Her warmth, kindness, and caring nature touched the lives of those around her, both personally and through her work in nursing. She also was an avid reader and loved to read romance novels and books by authors James Patterson and John Grissom.
Her greatest legacy is the family she loved so dearly. She is lovingly remembered by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and extended family, each of whom carries a part of her story forward.
She is survived by her children: Claudia and Joe Accetta, William and Maria Vickers; grandchildren Heather and Chris Zick, Amanda Vickers, Kaitlyn Vickers, Tyler and Victoria Vickers, Nicholas and Natalya Vickers; great grandchildren Lucy Vickers, Lucas Vickers, and Jaxon Vickers; and siblings Bethel Brodie and Chuck Jarrell.
Claudine is preceded in death by her loving husband, Douglas Gray Vickers Sr.; her parents Claude and Lenora Ramsey, son Douglas Vickers II, and sisters Carol Manke, Peggy Holt, and Joyce Childress.
Claudine's life was a testament to the power of love, the importance of family, and the difference one caring person can make in the lives of others. Through her nursing career, she offered compassion and comfort; through her family, she created a legacy that will endure for generations.
Although she will be deeply missed, the memories she created, the love she gave, and the lives she touched will remain forever in the hearts of those who knew her.
Her hands cared for many, her heart loved deeply, and her memory will live on forever.
Forever loved. Forever cherished. Never forgotten.
