

Collette Whalen, 86 of Port Richey, Florida, went to heaven on October 5 after having a long life. She was born October. 2, 1926, in Bronxville, New York to Felix J. Kimma and Anna Wollbeck Kimma. Collette graduated from Scarsdale High School in Scarsdale, New York in 1944.
She was married to Thomas J. Whalen on September 25, 1948, in Scarsdale, New York. After living in Yonkers and Pelham, NY, they moved to Holmes, NY, where they built their own house on Lake Dutchess. Tom and Collette retired part-time to Port Richey, FL, in 1984. She was a member of St. John’s Evangelist Catholic Church in Pawling N.Y. and a member of the Catholic Daughters. She also belonged to the St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Port Richey. Collette had a love for playing cards with her friends, bowling, cooking, baking and her church.
She was predeceased by her parents, husband Thomas and her brother Felix Hap Kimma. She is survived by a son Timothy E. Whalen, of Holmes, NY, and daughter Nancy Whalen-Viola of Florence, MA, son-in-law James Viola, daughter-in-law Gina G. Whalen, four grandchildren: Timothy R. Whalen, Sabrina C. Whalen, Theodore W. Viola and Salvatore F. Viola, whom she all loved so dearly and sister-in-law Elizabeth Casey Kimma, and several nieces and nephews.
A mass will be held at St. Michael’s Church in Port Richey, Fla. on Thursday, September 25 at 930 am. A grave side service will be held at a later date in Pawling N.Y.

The Whalen Family would like to thank Dr. Christine M. Behan and all the staff and doctors of Marliere Hospice Center for the great care and comfort they gave to Collette.
