Dale Howard Eickhoff
December 31, 1959 – October 7, 2019
Dale Howard Eickhoff, age 59, of New Port Richey, Florida passed away on Monday, October 7th, 2019 after a six-and-a-half-year battle with cancer. His loving family was by his side. Dale was born December 31, 1959 in St. Petersburg, FL to Ralph and June (Steiner) Eickhoff. He graduated from Hudson High School in 1977 and attended Pinellas Vocational Tech Institute and received his diploma in Drafting and Design Technology. For a while in the 1980’s, he was a volunteer firefighter for Pasco County. In 1985, Dale met the love of his life, Margaret. They married on September 5, 1987. Their son Drew was born in 1990.
Dale and Margaret were always together. Before Dale took sick, they would go on walks together, or drift aimlessly around flea markets. Theirs was a wonderfully simple life, except during the holiday’s when they would battle over how many Christmas Light’s were too many. They could often be found sipping coffee and laughing together at any of the numerous Starbuck’s in Pasco or Pinellas. Dale lived for making Margaret laugh.
He was also such a loving father. Dale and Drew were buddies- the best of friends. During the last year they would often go fishing together, with Dale catching more palm trees than actual fish. Together they would drive all the way to Spring Hill just so Dale could get a slice of his favorite pizza.
Dale was an avid football fan- Go Bucs! He loved the Discovery Channel, and nothing mesmerized him more than watching shows like ‘Alaska Wildman’, or YouTube videos about anything mechanical. Mostly, Dale loved to laugh. He held on to his sense of humor until the end.
Dale is survived by his wife of 32 years, Margaret; son Drew; brother Bill (Susie) Eickhoff; two nieces, a nephew, and a loving group of cousins who miss him dearly.
Plans for a Celebration of Life are currently pending. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the SPCA in Dale’s honor.
