Edmund Francis Sampson Jr., age 86, of New Port Richey, Florida passed away on Wednesday, August 30, 2023. Edmund was born on June 12, 1937 to the late Edmund and Eva (Gaboury) Sampson in Hartford, Connecticut.
Edmund was hardworking and never failed to support his family. He had a career in painting for cousin Dennis O’Connor and later for the City of Hartford, Connecticut. He hung wallpaper at night and on weekends while working for the City of Hartford. Edmund and his family moved to New Port Richey, Florida in 1980. Here he continued his career as a painter and wallpaper hanger. Over time, he picked up working on outboard motors and turned this hobby into a business. Edmund enjoyed everything the sunshine state had to offer. Some of his favorite activities were to go fishing or camping. Edmund loved nature. He would always point out his favorite bird, the Swallow-tailed Kite, or the beautiful dragonflies in the field. Edmund loved his family more than anything. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend. He spent his later years giving his grandchildren the best memories that they will cherish forever.
Edmund was known as “Butch” or “Eddie” to his loved ones and “River Ed” to his friends.
