Mrs. Joan D. Mayfield-Voigt of New Port Richey, FL, long time resident of Port Jervis, NY, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 18, 2024. She was 85 years old.
Joan was born May 28, 1938, in Bronx, NY, studied nursing in New Rochelle, NY, and moved to Port Jervis, NY in 1961. She was the daughter of William Robert Bell and Dorothy E. Dempsey Bell.
Throughout her career, Joan was a nurse in various hospitals throughout Orange County, NY. Later in her career, Joan was a school nurse in the Port Jervis School District. She touched so many lives and was beloved by the whole community.
After her retirement, Joan moved to New Port Richey where she met and married her love, Ron Voigt. They had a beautiful, fun, and loving life together. They were very active in their community, embarked on numerous adventures and trips, and Joan volunteered in her spare time.
Joan was a proud and loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Joan raised three sons, Michael, William, and Dennis, who she loved dearly. Joan or Nanny as she was affectionately called, loved spending time with her beloved granddaughters Melissa and Michelle and was absolutely smitten with her great-grandchildren Ayden and Maya.
Joan was a smart, caring, fierce, funny, independent woman who was an inspiration to so many and truly left the world better than she found it. She will be missed dearly.

Great Grandchildren Ayden and Maya Irvine of Binghamton, NY
Grandchildren Ron Mayfield, William Mayfield, his wife Dawn, and their son Kane, and Brittney Ann Pauly Mayfield.
Predeceased by her husband Ron Voigt, her daughter-in-law Marianne Mayfield, and her beloved granddaughter Michelle Mayfield.
