Rakes, John H. Sr. 90, passed away on May 24, 2013 at his home in Port Richey. John was born in Swords Creek, Virginia and grew up in Maryland. He proudly served his country during WWII in the US Army and went on to work for the VA Hospitals for the next 40 years. He retired in Miami in 1985. In 1989, he moved with his wife to Port Richey where he enjoyed making things with wood, PVC and just about anything you could imagine. John is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Ruth; son Darrin (Maria); daughters, Gisele (Kenneth) Hamm, and Virginia Klein; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.
