Jose was born in Galicia Spain, and grew up on a farm there. He was the son of Melchor Nouche Sanchez and Maria Gomez Ramos and had 7 siblings. Jose left Spain when he was just 19 in 1954 to search for work, a journey that took him to Cuba. While in Cuba, Jose found work as a waiter and met his lovely wife Matilde whom he married on November 5, 1961. Jose and Matilde left Cuba in 1967 and immigrated to the United States in 1968 where they eventually settled in Queens, New York. Their only child – Carlos – was born in Jamaica, New York in 1969. Jose and Matilde were entrepreneurs in New York, owning a grocery store throughout the years. In 1982, the Nouche family moved to Port Richey, Florida. Jose and Matilde opened and ran a restaurant in Hudson, Florida. Jose later became a waiter at The Columbia Restaurant in Ybor City and worked there for many years. He was a favorite of many of the regular patrons of the restaurant. He was also a member of the Port Richey Knights of Columbus and Elks clubs and attended mass each Sunday at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church.
He leaves behind his loving family, including his wife Matilde of Port Richey; his son Carlos of Atlanta, GA; 6 brothers and sisters - Hermosinda Nouche Gomez, Antonio Mosquera Gómez, Ramiro Mosquera Gómez, Carmen Mosquera Gómez, Concepción Mosquera Gómez and Sol Mosquera Gómez all of Galcia, Spain - as well as his beloved dog Cuca.
Memorial arrangements are being coordinated by North Meadowlawn Funeral Home and Cemetery (727-849-9281) and a memorial mass will be held to remember Jose on Friday, November 29 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Queen of Peace Catholic Church in New Port Richey (5340 High Street, New Port Richey, FL 34652).
