Joyce Ruth Brower

Joyce Ruth Brower, age 93, of Holiday, passed away peacefully on February 23, 2026.

Joyce was born on March 6, 1932, in Hudsonville to John and Doris Nyhuis. She spent her early years in Michigan before moving to New Jersey at the age of 18. While living in New Jersey, she met the love of her life, Sidney Brower, who was serving in the United States Marine Corps. They built a life together rooted in love and devotion. In the late 1980s, Joyce and Sidney moved to Florida, where they enjoyed their later years.

Joyce had a lifelong passion for helping and caring for others. She dedicated her career to nursing, where her compassion, kindness, and gentle spirit touched the lives of many. Outside of her work, Joyce loved to sing and found great joy in music. She also enjoyed going for walks, appreciating the simple beauty of the world around her. Her warmth, selflessness, and unwavering love for her family will always be remembered.

Joyce is survived by her children: Charmaine Brower Foufas of Colorado; David Brower of New Jersey; and Arlene Cusimano of Florida. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Hannah Brower of South Dakota and David J. Brower of New Jersey.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Sidney Brower, and her brothers, Edson, Gene, Bart, and Elvin Nyhuis.

Joyce’s legacy of love, faith, and service to others will live on in all who knew and loved her.
