Katerene C. Johnson

Katerene C. Johnson was born February 23, 1922, in the farming community of Laurel Hill, Florida to Perry and Savannah Cadenhead. She passed from this life at the age of 88, on Wednesday, August 18, 2010, at the Lafayette Hospice House, in New Port Richey.

Katerene was the Salutatorian of her High School Class and following graduation married her high school sweetheart, Arthur C. Johnson, who served as a PT - Boat Chief in WWII. Following the war they made their home in Jacksonville, Florida, where their only child, Stephen, was born in 1948.

Katerene retired as an Administrative Assistant to the Dir.of Nurses at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Jacksonville, Florida. Along with Arthur, her husband of 63 years, she moved to Port Richey 18 years ago. The Johnsons became Charter Members of Faith Covenant Community Church, founded by their pastor son, Stephen, in Palm Harbor. Katerene enrolled in the church's seminary and went on to earn a Bachelor of Biblical Studies Degree.

Katerene was preceded in death by her husband and was, herself, the last survivor of 9 siblings. She is survived by her son and daughter - in- law, the reverends Stephen and Suzanne Johnson of Palm Harbor; 2 grandchildren, Brandie and Jimmy, 5 great grandchildren, a number of brothers and sisters - in - laws, nieces & nephews and many devoted friends and caring neighbors.

As per Katerene's own request, when arrangements are completed, a private interment will take place at Meadowlawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery in New Port Richey. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be given to Faith Covenant Community Church, 1912 Nebraska Avenue in Palm Harbor, Florida 34683; for Christ's glory and in loving memory of Katerene.
