

Katherine "Kathy" Stancil Durkin, age 62, of New Port Richey, Florida passed away peacefully surrounded by family after a courageous battle with cancer on November 27, 2021. She was born on May 26,1959 in Alexandria, Virginia and was raised there. Kathy Graduated from T.C. Williams High School. She was married to Thomas "Tommy" Durkin on June 30, 1984.
Kathy was a preschool teacher at St. Clements Episcopal School. She also worked as a cafeteria at her son, Ryan's elementary school and as a bank clerk.
She was a lifelong member of Grace Episcopal Church and volunteered with the ASPCA. She had a love for animals and a passion for taking care of friends and family. She enjoyed painting, reading and watching movies (especially the classic westerns).
She was preceded in death by her parents James "Jimmy" and Joyce Stancil, her sister Peggy Stancil Kennedy and son Sean Durkin. She is survived by her husband Tommy Durkin, her son Ryan Durkin, her daughter-in-law Eileen Durkin, her brother Michael Stancil and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
A memorial service will be held sometime in spring 2022 at Grace Episcopal Church in Alexandria, Virginia. Details to come.
The family would like to express our thanks for the wonderful help and care given by the Marliere Hospice House in New Port Richey, FL. If desired, friends may make a memorial contribution to the ASPCA. Kathy will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
