We remember and honor a woman who was the very definition of strength and grace.
She was fierce in spirit, unwavering in honesty, and yet always led with kindness. Her presence filled a room not with noise, but with warmth — and her laugh, oh that laugh, could melt tension and make you feel right at home. It was her gift, and she gave it freely. Her strength shaped our family. Her stories built bridges between generations. And her unwavering love reminded us all that home isn't just a place — it’s a feeling, one she carried within her and shared so generously.
She was a matriarch in every sense — not through force, but through wisdom, love, and the quiet power of someone who knew who she was and what mattered. She ruled with soft hands and firm words, with compassion guiding every decision. She didn’t just walk through life; she roared — proud, unapologetic, and beautifully human. She would remind you, “I am woman, hear me roar.”
She was a constant. A compass. A source of wisdom, laughter, and grounding. She believed in everyone when they didn’t believe in themselves. She reminded everyone to speak their truth, to stand tall, and to never confuse kindness with weakness. Her presence gave everyone courage. Her love made everyone feel seen. We will carry her voice in our heads for the rest of our lives — guiding us, cheering us on, and reminding us who we come from.
To know her was to know courage wrapped in tenderness, and strength shaped by love. We will carry her stories, her laughter, and her legacy forward — because that’s what strong women do. We rise on the shoulders of those who came before us, and she lifted us all.
Though she’s no longer with us, her spirit remains — in the way we laugh, in the way we lead, and in every act of fierce love we pass on. Her legacy lives in all of us who were lucky enough to be held in her light.
A visitation for Lavaughn will be held Saturday, October 11, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM, followed by a reception from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM.
