Margaret Elizabeth Gamble

Margaret (Peggy) Elizabeth Refford Gamble, age 88, was born on August 31, 1935 to the late George and Sara Refford, and passed peacefully from this life on Tuesday, June 4, 2024. Peggy is survived by daughters Joan Denmark and Tricia Martzolf (Jerry); daughter-in-law Suzanne Henderson; grandchildren Erica Jaeh (Matt), Chris Denmark (Denae), Sara Beniamino, Carrie Whitehurst (Jared), and Chris Martzolf; and great grandchildren, Kellen and Lily Jaeh, Zach and Wesley Denmark, Caleb and Kyle Sevin, and Gavin, Micah and Aaliyah Whitehurst. Peggy is pre-deceased by her son James Gamble Jr., brother Lester Refford and husband James Gamble Sr.

Married to James Gamble in 1954, Peggy welcomed a son and two daughters while living near Dover, Delaware, before moving to Ft. Myers, Florida in 1970. In 1973, she fulfilled a lifelong wish to become a nurse and was a kind and compassionate caregiver to her patients throughout her career. Retiring in 1998, she moved to New Port Richey with her husband Jim.

Peggy was devoted to her family and was devastated at the loss of her son, Jim Jr. shortly after her retirement. Her strength amidst her sorrow helped the family heal their broken hearts.

Peggy, who was an accomplished seamstress, turned her talents to handmade quilts. She enjoyed being a Grandma, traveling in their RV seeing the country, playing the organ, cooking, baking and growing plants with her legendary green thumb.

A Celebration of Life will be held on July 20, 2024 beginning at 11:00am at Meadowlawn Funeral Home in New Port Richey. A graveside service will follow at 1:00pm.

Peggy leaves behind a legacy of love, caring and giving, and all who knew her are blessed to have had her in their lives.

A memorial service will occur Saturday, July 20, 2024 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM, 4244 Madison Street, New Port Richey, FL 34652. A graveside service will occur Saturday, July 20, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM at External Service Location, 4244 Madison St, New Port Richey, FL 34653.
