She was born November 10, 1940, in Camaguey, Cuba, a daughter of the late Mario and Rosa Aguero. She married Nelson Robaina in January 1962 in Miami, FL.
Mirtha dedicated her life to being a fantastic and wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her passion for caring for children also extended beyond the immediate family as she provided care for many other children over the years. It was always possible if you were to visit her home to find one or two extra children under her watchful eyes and loving care.
In addition to caring for others, she enjoyed gardening (especially mango and avocado), being outside with nature and overall hospitality. She was always cooking and feeding family, friends and visitors. Preparing a typical Cuban meal for you was an honor and you never left with an empty stomach, in fact usually just the opposite. If you could not be convinced to eat something you at least had Cuban coffee to share the moment.
Mirtha was passionate, strong and loving. We will miss her greatly. She is survived by her husband, Nelson E. Robaina, Sr, her two daughters Elizabeth Kelley and Patricia Robaina and her son Nelson Robaina Jr. (Keith Hart). She is also survived by her 3 grandchildren, Kacie Lauf-Torrico, Xiomara Parra (Jorge) and Tony Delarosa and 4 great-grandchildren Alina Parra, Leila Parra, Dahlia Parra and Eli Parra. Mirtha was no stranger to a large family or caring for others along with her family as she was part of a group of 15 siblings with 6 sisters and 7 brothers.
Funeral arrangements will be held on Tuesday, April 7th, with viewing at 11:00AM and graveside service at 12:00 Noon at Meadowlawn Funeral Home, 4244 Madison St. New Port Richey, FL 34652.
