Noreen M. Griffin
December 10, 1925 – July 3, 2018
Noreen M. Griffin died on July 3, 2018, in New Port Richey, Florida, at 92 years old. “Grammy”, as she was fondly called by family, lived a long, enriching life, surrounded by her children and grandchildren. Grammy was born Dec. 10, 1925 in Buffalo, N.Y., and moved to New Port Richey from Grand Island, N.Y., in 1987. She was a woman ahead of her time, working a full-time job as a registered nurse for more than 56 years years while being a full-time mother of five, whose ages varied by 15 years. Grammy worked for five years at Mease Countryside Hospital and for 10 years at the New Port Richey Surgery Center at. She retired after 18 years at Perich Eye Center. Grammy was a proud mother and is survived by her children: Patricia (Randy) Salois, Paul (Debbi) Griffin, Laurie (Ed) Dyl, Brian (Kathy) Griffin, Raymond (Diane) Griffin, as well as 12 grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Her brother, Edward Griffin, and sister, Mary Spilsbury, live in Buffalo, N.Y., with their children and many nephews and nieces. Grammy lived a long life on her own terms, and was very much involved in her children’s and grandchildren’s lives. She never missed a birthday, anniversary, or special occasion, and Grammy was always there or had a card or note delivered on time. She will be remembered by many for her firey personality, matching red hair, and her neatly manicured nails.
Her family would like to thank Trinity Regional Rehab Center for their loving care of Grammy over the last year.
A viewing service will be held at Meadowlawn Funeral Home in New Port Richey on Friday, July 13, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Online remembrances can be made at dignitymemorial.com
