

JONES, Richard 'Rick', 80 of New Port Richey passed away on December 20th, 2012. Rick was born on January 12th, 1932 in Columbia, MO to Helen Ferguson and Richard O. Jones. Rick graduated from Southern Illinois High School in Carbondale, IL and studied for two years at the Marion Military Institute in Marion, AL. Rick proudly served in the U.S Army during the Korean War. Rick relocated to Florida in 1967.
In his early years, Rick enjoyed fishing and hunting with a true appreciation for Wildlife. He was quite knowledgeable in the identification of birds. He held an avid interest in the history of aviation with special attention giving to military aircraft and he enjoyed building models of the aircrafts studied. He was a member of the Pelican Modelers Club in Pinellas Park. He also studied the history of the old west and had quite the collection of classic western movies.
Rick resided at Emeritus at La Casa Grande in New Port Richey since 2007. It was home for Rick and he was quite happy living there where he never missed an activity or event. He loved classical music and the opera but would also put on his cowboy hat and play his harmonica for anyone who would listen.
Christianity was important to Rick. He loved Bible studies and the fellowship of other Christians. He was associated with the First Assembly of God, The River of Praise, as well the Seventh Day Adventist churches. He found great joy and love in attending all of the services.
Rick is predeceased by his parents Helen and Dick Jones; sister Rosemary Jones; and his brother Danny Jones. He is survived by his sister Pamela (Bruce) Blumbaum of New Port Richey Florida.
Rick will be remembered with love and happiness to all who knew him.
