from New York City in 1989. She was a member of the Asbury United Methodist Church and a volunteer at Elfers Senior Center. She was born in Landover, Maryland and served in the Executive Office of the President of the United States during the Truman Administration. In the early 1950's she joined the Equitable Life Assurance Society of the U.S., NYC, where she served in an executive capacity for 37 years. During her career, she was elected President
of the Occupational Medical Administrators' Association; and Chairman of the Board of the American Academy of Medical Administrators, the two national organizations in her field. She also served as the Academy's first Chairperson of its Research and Education Foundation. She was a member of the
Board of Prospect Hospital and a member of the Board of Fordham Hill Owner's Corporation. She was listed in "Who's Who of American Women" and "Women of the World". Survivors include a step-daughter Elisabeth Wimsatt, Portland, Oregon; a niece Winifred (Charles) Witten, Austin Texas; and nephews Warren (Karen) Sanders, College Park, Maryland; and Robert (Constance) Britt, King George, Virginia. She had 13 step-grandchildren. Also surviving is Ruth's close friend of many years, Patricia Ross. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, January 8, 2016 at 3pm at Meadowlawn Funeral Home.
