Steven Lloyd Sherman, 77, of Clearwater, Florida, passed away on Sunday, June 1, after a long battle with cancer, surrounded by loving family and friends. Steven was born in Brooklyn, New York, to Jack Sherman and Trudy Apatov. In high school, he most enjoyed studying science and participating in various athletic activities, including paddleball and gymnastics. A favorite teacher among many of his students, Steven taught across New York in subjects ranging from science for gifted students to health and physical education. After retiring from full-time teaching, he pursued ministry activities with various church groups and civic organizations. He authored several books, including “The Last Days Calendar: A Jewish Believer’s Perspective” and “The Revelation of Jesus Christ: Understanding the Apocalypse”. Additionally, he founded the organization Just Pray NO!, which guides churches worldwide in providing intercession for addicts and their families. Just Pray NO! achieved significant success, including appearances on international television and involvement from participants in many countries, serving thousands of families.
Steven is survived by his devoted sister, Penny, and his children—Matthew, Rachel, Jaime, Jesse, and Zai—as well as seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He is remembered for his boundless energy, sense of humor, and for leaving a legacy of family closeness.
A celebration of life for Steven will be held on July 12, starting at 3 PM, at Meadowlawn Funeral Home in New Port Richey.
