To the Porter family,  I grew up living across the street for a time from Mr Porter as we always called him.  I was a childhood friend of Rhyan Jr's and something made me think of them today and I googled their name.  Lo and behold Mr Porter had passed just last week.  I will always remember the days at the pool, and at the house in Lilburn, and later in NPR.  Those were some fun days for sure.  Mr Porter tried to teach me to water ski and while I became rather successful at other sports, I never got the hang of water skiing.  That was more to do with me than with him. He was always very kind to me.   I'm pretty sure he gave me my first camera from GAF.  Rest in peace, say hi to my mom. Barbara Karwoski

Worked for Ryan in the late 70's & early 80's. Ryan had his ways but he was a Genuine Good Man. The funniest and fondest memory I have of Ryan.
I guess was when he bought the hang glider. He wanted to Fly !!!!!!! So we all loaded up and headed for a nearby sod field just up 54. After we assembled it Ryan tied a 100' rope to the back bumper of the brown dodge pickup ( can't forget that truck. I drove it 1000's of miles) and then to himself. John McGill  drove the truck,  Mark Remington and I on eather side of Ryan held the corners up. John shouted LETS GO !!!!(famous last words !!!! ) and stomped the gas...
We all started running untill the nose hit the ground. Then the glider started snapping and ripping . Ryan felldown started tumbling and yelling for John to stop.  He finally stopped. About 200 yards from where Ryan hit the ground,Fortunately Ryan wasn't hurt seriously (PRIDE MOSTLY) Ryan stood up and said WELP THAT DIDNT WORK !!!!!!! We all started laughing hysterically. We literally laughed for days. Again Ryan was GENUINE.  My Condolences and My Prayers go out to the family.
The world will be a different place without him.
RYAN MY FRIEND YOU WILL BE GREATLY MISSED BY ALL THE PEOPLE YOU HAVE TOUCHED IN YOUR LIFE. GOODBYE OLD 🧡
