Vincenzo C. Pesce, Sr. of New Port Richey, passed away November 23rd. He is survived by his wife, Carol; his son, Vincenzo, Jr.; his sister, Louisa; and the extended family of nephews, nieces, grandnephews and grandnieces to whom he gave love and guidance throughout his life, and by whom he will be sorely missed.Born and raised in the Bronx, New York, Mr. Pesce served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps during the 1950’s, where, though not formally a military cook, his interest in Italian cooking delighted his platoon even on bivouacs. When he was discharged, went to work in the construction trades. He rose through the ranks quickly, to become a superintendent of construction projects in Manhattan, until he began his own successful construction firm on Long Island. After his “retirement” to Florida in the 1980’s, restlessness, the culinary skills of his chef son, and his own interest in fine food, led to his opening of Vincenzo’s Ristorante in New Port Richey – a respected part of the Main Street scene for over 20 years. But Mr. Pesce is best known for the love and affection he showered on his family and friends, and the love and respect he enjoyed from them. He will be always in our hearts.
