

McLean, William 84; passed away on September 12, 2011 in Gainesville, FL. He was born in Brooklyn, New York and retired Vice President of Grumman, an airplane manufacturing company. He served in WWII as a Navy Seabee and was an avid member of many clubs such as the Grumman Retirement Club, Gulf Harbors Yacht Club, Past President West Branch Manufacturing Association, Director of Williamsport Community College, Director of Divine Providence Hospital, Director of Northern Central Bank, Director of Williamsport Chamber of Commerce, Past President of Susquehanna Boat Club, Past Vice Commodore Stoneybrook Yacht Club. He was Roman Catholic by faith and a happy go lucky man who smiled A LOT! He thoroughly enjoyed fishing & boating and he especially loved his Thursday night poker games with all of his buddies. William was very fond of the Gulf Harbors Yacht Club and all the friends he had there. He loved to travel & enjoyed talking about his trips with others. He loved cruises and has mastered 42!
He is survived by his loving wife Eleanor; sons Rory & William; Daughter MaryLou Gehr; brothers; James, Chris, John & Frank; 4 Grandchildren; David Mowrey, Teresa Shaffer, Adam McLean & Rory Jr. 7 Great Grandchildren; Christopher Shaffer, Rachel Shaffer, Ericka Shaffer Ella Grace Mowrey, Adelyn Faith Mowrey, Cierra Cooke, & Andrea Fox. And many Nieces & Nephews.
A celebration of William’s life will take place on Friday from 2-4 in the Chapel of North/Meadowlawn Funeral Home; 4244 Madison Street, New Port Richey, FL 34652 and a service of remembrance will take place on Saturday at 10:00 AM. William will be laid to rest at Meadowlawn Memorial Gardens following the service.
