

Mr. Schwabacher, a Senior Partner in the law firm of Windels Marx, was well known as an estates and trusts attorney who focused on representing artists and art collectors.
Besides attaining eminence in his profession, Mr. Schwabacher served as a director or trustee for a number of philanthropies, including Artists' Space, the Fine Arts Work Center, the Betty Parsons Foundation, the Jewish Guild for the Blind and the Herman Goldman Foundation. He also served on the advisory board of the Pollock-Krasner House and Study Center.
Born in Manhattan, the son of attorney Wolfgang Schwabacher and artist Ethel Schwabacher, he attended both The Dalton School and Riverdale Country Day School before graduating magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Harvard University in 1963. He then received his LL.B from Harvard Law School in 1966 and LL.M from New York University School of Law in 1967.
An avid jogger in his younger years and exercise enthusiast until the very end, he led a healthy life with a zest for activity. Passions included sailing near his vacation home in Sag Harbor, NY, travelling to distant corners of the world and attending theatre performances and museums across New York City.
Surviving are his wife Hannelore, sons Mark and Roger, daughters-in-law Melinda and Susan, and grandsons Joe and Henry.

The family will receive friends for a memorial reception on Saturday, October 3rd from 3 PM to 5 PM at Frank E. Campbell Funeral Home, 1076 Madison Ave, New York, NY.
