I think about Peter often many a conversations with him during my lunch break with the late Pat Chrico  at the loading dock  while he was also on his lunch break had many a laugh he was always happy he made my day many a time I use to speak to him on the phone at times after I retired and of course the Christmas card exchange every yr rest well my friend see you down the road

As my friend Scott said below who is also U.S. Secret Service,  We didn't know peter but heard about him from others all great things! I wish we got to know Peter through our law enforcement work. 

I have what I call, a different positive ability of autism. It was nice to see that others like me in terms of disability or challenges were given the chance to make a positive difference in public service. It goes to show that everyone deserves a chance to make a difference and Peter did make a difference in many lives! RIP Peter.

I myself worked many years at 1 PP. and encountered Pete almost every day delivering mail to my Department. He was always happy and upbeat, and a HUGE Yankee fan. Condolences to his family.

I worked at 1 pp for 3 years and I always would see Mr. Farley with his cart full of mail and his smile. One day he stopped me and he chatted me up and everyday we would say hello. What a wonderful man he will be forever missed. Rest Well Mr. Farley.

My name is Margaret Theresa Bartlett, I worked at One Police Plaza from December 1973  to October 2002. That's where I met Peter Farley. I also was a Office Associate III/Secretary. I supervised numerous units until I retired. Meeting Peter was an impact in life. He was always happy & smiling when crossing paths. I say good morning, good afternoon or good night Peter. He would say good morning, good afternoon or good night Terry. He would say back with the most beautiful smile ever. I never seen him sad or not smiling. After I retired I would run into him on the upper Eastside where we both lived. We lived in walking distance. I say Peter when will you retire. He'd say I'm still working Terry with a smile. He loved his job. I will miss him & his beautiful smile. Keep smiling Peter!!!!

The day that I was assigned to the 19th Precinct Detective Squad in 1968 and looking for a parking spot, I spotted my dear cousin Peter.  He was standing guard at the gate to what was then a police parking at 67th and Lex.  This was an off the books volunteer job before he was officially hired a few years later.  We spoke every day I came to work.    My siblings and their families loved when Peter shared in family functions with all of us.  He had a terrific sense of humor.

I first met Peter over forty years ago in the 19th Precinct. Later, when I worked down the hall from him at Headquarters, he would stop in daily to tell me how many accident reports he had mailed out. I always called him "the hardest working man in the NYPD." He was also  the happiest and dedicated. Peter was always joyful, and truly loved his job and his colleagues -- and loved to laugh. He had an encyclopedic knowledge of everyone who spent any time in the 19th, and "Mayor of 1PP" was an accurate description. We are all better for having the privilege of knowing him. Thank you, Peter; rest in peace.

I started to see Peter on almost a daily basis, starting about 5 yrs ago when his sister Rosanne moved into the building. I work in her building as a doorman. We instantly hit it off, and I couldn't wait to see him to talk METS and crime each day he visited his sister. I'm gonna miss those small interactions and high fives with Peter.  You'll be missed my friend.

Knew Peter well from the halls of 1 Police Plaza for some reason you felt he would never get old . Rest in peace Peter

As a rookie Police officer, I was assigned to the 19th Pct. as my first command from the Police Academy (Jan. 1969 to Nov. 1971).  Peter helped out a the station house and was the parking attendant a  t the 19th pct. police parking lot.  He was a very good security guard there and always wanted to be a police officer.  When my partner and I left the 19th pct., P eter was very upset.  We had a really good relation with him, and he called us the real cops of the 19th pct. We made many arrests and recovered many stolen vehicles.
I'll never forget the day my partner and I were in Police Headquarters, on the elevator, with Peter, the Commissioner and two Chiefs, when Peter told them, "These two officers are REAL COPS-Not dead wood".  He made us feel proud!  I gave him an honorary Police Shield, which he said he wood treasure. 
Rest in peace, and thanks for all the years of service to the NYCPD.

My condolences go out to your family on Peter’s passing this week. What a trooper he was and so dedicated to his job at the police department. Working up to 70  was quite the accomplishment for him and he  sure loved his job.  Blessings to your family and the dedication you all had to his care over the years. When I was a rookie at the 19th Pct. in 1984, I met Pete. He was a regular there. There was no wall between us. He was a true brother in blue. We loved him and he loved us. We shared many many good times and laughs. RIP brother. May you rest in the arms of Jesus.

I used to see Peter once a month down at 1 PP and it would be at the Audit and Accounts section. It seemed like every time I would go there which was once a month back in 2003 no matter what time I got there he would show up at Audits and Accounts shortly after I got there. I only had the pleasure to speak to him one time when I was there because I happened to notice that every time I would show up to drop off the paperwork from my section Peter would pop in shortly after.

I never knew Peter that well except for that one time we briefly spoke at Audits and Accounts but I knew of him because the NYPD had numerous videos with Peter in them on their intranet home screen. 51 years of service at the NYPD shows that Peter loved his job every minute of everyday and he will be greatly missed at the NYPD.

Peter will always have a lasting impression of soneone  who loves his job  and always had a smile to share.  Rest in Peace, Petey

Pete Pete  such a great man. He was the Mayor of 1pp. Hands down. Such a warm kind human being . I use to tease him all the time. When you retiring he would say Never Never Nebruary.  And he meant it♥️ with a generous laugh. I tried to give him a Yankee cap one time he told me you can keep that.. and the laugh would come.. 🥲 such a wonderful  man. With a kind heart. Pete Pete. You will be missed. And like frank Sinatra the new of your passing is spreading fast. We love you and you’ll always have a home in our hearts Salute to the guy who didn’t wear the uniform. Peter was one of a kind to have had such an impact on so many people in his life. Whether it was at work in 1PP,  a Holy Name or an Emerald Society meeting it was always a pleasure to meet Peter and catch up on what was going on. The Childs family, especially my grandpa Tom, adored Peter. Growing up, they taught me to follow Peter's extraordinary example. From his true grit and incredible  work ethic to his dedication to law enforcement, huge heart, love of family, and team spirit (for the Mets & NYPD), Peter was a fine gentleman. When I think of Peter, smiles, joy, laughter, innocence and “special” comes to mind.  Someone so special can never be forgotten. He was a shining light in the precinct who brightened so many lives.

So sad to hear that Peter has passed away. He was the soul of the NYPD.  He was affectionately known as “The Mayor”!!  Everyone knew Peter, and he knew everyone by name. Peter was proud of his job, showed up no matter the weather,  always with a smile, proudly sporting his NY Mets tie and an abundance of pins.
