

She graduated from Owensboro Catholic High School in 1962. Anne life guarded and taught swimming lessons at the Sportscenter in Owensboro. She graduated from St. Joseph Infirmary School of Nursing in Louisville, KY in 1965. She also attended Western Kentucky University and The University of Evansville. Anne worked as a registered nurse in Kentucky, Indiana, and Texas. She retired as an RN performing chemical dependency services at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Evansville, IN after 20 years of employment.
Anne was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Newburgh, IN. She loved to volunteer as an usher, greeter, Fit Over 50, Summer Fest and many other acts of service. Anne enjoyed bunco, scrabble, and getting together with friends. She loved to work in the yard and garden and visit with her grandchildren.
Anne is survived by her husband of 34 years, Ronald E. Dugan; two sons, Edward J. Gesser III and wife, Rebecca of Brewerton, NY and Joseph L. Gesser and wife, Dana of Evansville, IN and one daughter, Michelle A. Gicale and husband, Jeremy of Newburgh, IN. She is also survived by one stepson, Patrick J. Dugan and wife, Hope and one stepdaughter, Laura J. Christensen and husband, David, both of whom live in Charlotte, NC; eighteen grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, her brother, Phil Riney and sister, Mary Nix.
Anne was preceded in death by her first husband and father of her three children, Dr. Edward J Gesser, Jr. on March 1, 1986 and brothers, Michael, Thomas, Timothy, and Patrick Riney.
Visitation for family and friends will be held from 3:00 to 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, August 20, 2025 at Alexander Newburgh Chapel, 5333 State Road 261, Newburgh, IN where a Nursing Honor Guard Ceremony and Vigil Service will begin at 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 21, 2025 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 625 Frame Road, Newburgh, IN officiated by Fr. Claude Burns. Family and friends may visit on Thursday from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. at the church. Private burial will be held at St. John Catholic Cemetery at a later date.
