"Bal" worked as a junior mechanical engineer at Murcia Sugar Central in Bacolod, Philippines. He moved to Chicago, Illinois, United States, in 1975, to work as a maintenance engineer. He then worked for Hartford Steam Boiler in St. Paul, Minnesota. He finally settled and was a 38-year resident of Newburgh, Indiana, and retired from Arise Inc. as a boiler and pressure vessel inspector in 2010. He was an active head deacon and treasurer of Seventh Day Adventist church for 36 years.
Bal loved to work in his garden growing Filipino vegetables from early spring to late summer, sharing his harvest with the entire tristate Filipino community. He was always tinkering with his cars and making home improvements. He was the designated handy man who was called to fix anything and everything. He acted as life guard to all the kids who swam in his backyard pool each and every summer. He loved travelling the world and going on tours and cruises. Bal's generosity and kindness will be remembered by all who knew him.
