December 4, 1946 – June 22, 2026
Personal things Barry Lee Ransom, a proud veteran, dedicated family man, and lifelong resident of Newburgh, Indiana, passed away peacefully on June 22, 2026, after a short battle with his health. He leaves behind a legacy of service, adventure, and deep love for his family.
Born on December 4, 1946, Barry was a man of grit, character, and unwavering patriotism. Following his brave service as a Vietnam Veteran, he returned home to Newburgh and continued serving his fellow servicemen by running the Newburgh American Legion. His commitment to hard work was further defined by his 29 dedicated years of employment at Alcoa, from which he retired.
Barry was a man of many passions. He was an avid shooting and gun enthusiast, but his happiest moments were spent outdoors. He cherished family fishing trips to Lake Barkley, creating memories that will be treasured for generations. Barry also had a deep love for travel, frequently heading "out west" to explore the wide-open landscapes of his favorite destinations in Southern California and Arizona.
He is reunited in death with the love of his life and wife of 58 years, Marion LaDon Ransom, whom he affectionately called "Tweets." Barry was deeply heartbroken by her loss, and his family takes comfort in knowing they are together once again. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Jerome and Kathleen Ransom, and his brother, David Ransom.
Barry’s legacy lives on through his devoted son, Lafe (Jenni) Ransom. He will be deeply and uniquely missed by his cherished grandchildren, Bella and William Ransom, who will always hold dear the stories, laughter, and special time spent together during their regular Sunday dinners—and, of course, the legendary "secret stash" of snack cakes he was always so happy to share with them.
