

Betty Jean Barnett, 94, of Newburgh, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loved ones on Thursday, July 10, 2025. She was born October 4, 1930 in Paducah, KY to the late Lewis and Pearlinal (Wyatt) Williams.
One day at the roller rink, she met the love of her life. She and Riley Eston Barnett married Thanksgiving morning, November 27, 1947 at Twelfth Street Baptist Church in Paducah, KY. November of this year would have been their 78th year of marriage. Her faith was very important to her. God guided her everyday of her life. Betty was the heart of her family. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Nothing was more important to her than spending time with her family.
She is survived by her husband, Riley Barnett; daughters, Deanna Phelps (Bob) of Albertville, AL and Debra Yates (Terry) of Newburgh, IN; grandchildren, Blake Phelps of Cullman, AL, Lee Yates (Jamie) of Evansville, IN, Kyle Phelps (Maranda) of Trussville, AL and Len Yates (Susan) of Evansville, IN; great grandchildren, Adlee Yates, Bennett Yates, Remi Yates, Riley Jo Phelps, Reagan Yates and Ava Jean Yates.
Betty leaves many cherished memories for her family. Per her request, there will be a private family service presided over by her son-in-law, Rev. Bob Phelps on Saturday, July 12, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at Alexander Memorial Park in the Chapel of Remembrance followed by entombment.
