He retired from the United States Air Force in August 1978 having earned the rank of Master Sargeant, retired from TJ Maxx in Evansville, and was a member of First Christian Church.
Bob was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Darlene A. Shanks.
He is survived by his son James Shanks of Calera, AL; daughter, Lisa Acord (Stephen) of Wiggins, MS, and grandchildren, Braden Acord, Lily Acord, and Cameron Baylor.
