Carol was born in Evansville on January 23, 1937, to Mildred and Dr. Herman T. Combs, where she grew up alongside her brothers, Kent and Brent. She attended the University of Miami, where she was crowned a beauty queen. She later married Gene Weed and moved to Hollywood, California, where she raised her four children.
Carol understood beauty and spent her life sharing it. Her love of design and makeup came from one simple desire: to help others create beauty in their lives. For years she worked as an interior designer, and after her divorce, returned to Evansville to continue her career in interior design. She later spent many years at Macy's in the cosmetics department, helping women look and feel their best. Whether it was a living room or a face, she had the eye and the heart for it.
Anyone who knew Carol knew where she stood. She was known for her big personality, great storytelling, and strong opinions, which she never hesitated to share. That same spirit carried her through the last 9 years of her life. When a spinal condition took much of her mobility and independence behind the wheel, she never gave up. She was a fighter and met every day on her own terms.
Carol is survived by her children, Kent Weed, Kymberli Weed Brady, Julie Brendel and her son-in-law Tim, along with 7 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Mildred and Herman Combs; her brothers, Kent and Brent Combs; and her youngest son, Adam Weed.
