Carroll Kenneth Hickrod, 72, of Newburgh, IN, passed away peacefully on his birthday surrounded by his family on August 20, 2023. He was born on August 20, 1951, to the late Clarence and Louise (Stewart) Hickrod.
Carroll was a 1971 graduate of Central High School. He was a member of Living Word Christian Church. Carroll worked at Alcoa for 29 years as a maintenance mechanic where he retired from in 2013. Carroll volunteered at The Old Vanderburgh County Courthouse working on the clock. He was a member of the ARRL and Daniel Boone Gun Club. He enjoyed spending time with his family. He loved traveling and his favorite vacations were at the ocean. He enjoyed just sitting on the balcony watching and listening to the waves. Carroll loved to make people laugh, anytime he told someone his name he would say “double R, double L". He enjoyed his monthly breakfast with the Alcoa retirees. Carroll was a regular customer at Panera Bread where he made a lot of memories with new friends.
Carroll is also preceded in death by his granddaughter Tiffani Amber Stotlar.
Carroll is survived by his wife of 45 years, Debbie. Daughters, Karen (Ronnie) Stotlar and Tracy (Dave) Bosecker, Grandchildren, Kenneth, Austin (Cassidy), Hunter, and Carli Stotlar, Jackson and Xavier Bosecker, and blessed with great-grandchildren, Brother, Cliff (Mary Ellen) Christian, Sisters, Terry Hickrod, Peggy (Jim) Bond, and Donna Valente.
We would like to thank all the staff at the Chancellor Center and Linda E White Hospice House. A special thank you to his cousin Greg Stewart for the daily phone calls. Carroll fought hard for 20 months.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Friday August 25, 2023 at Alexander Newburgh Chapel officiated by Minister Tara Powell. Friends and family may visit from 1:00 p.m. until service time at the funeral home.
