

Charles W. Marx., 80, of Newburgh, Indiana, passed away peacefully Tuesday, October 10, 2023, surrounded by family. He was born in Evansville, Indiana to Kenneth G. Marx Sr. and Mildred (Niemeier) Marx.
Charles was an active member of the Town of Newburgh community, and he loved fishing and woodworking. He was married fifty-two years to Debra (Hardin) Marx and He was a dedicated, hard-working, and loving, husband, father, and grandfather.
Charles was a lifelong resident of Indiana. He served as a Police Officer, Police Assistant Chief and Police Chief for the Town of Newburgh. He was a lifetime member of the Newburgh Volunteer Fire Department, holding the rank of Captain at retirement in 2015. He was a member of the Cynthiana, Indiana Masonic Lodge, and a member of the Shriner Hospital Staff.
He is survived by his wife, Debra; brothers, Kenneth Jr, Michael; sisters, Kathy, Mary Ann; daughter, Clara (Jeff); son, Courtney (Crystal); one grandson, Jonathan (Vincent); four granddaughters, Catherine (Colin), Elizabeth, Cylie and Cydney.
Charles was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth Sr., mother, Mildred, and a sister.
Services will be held at Alexander Funeral Home – Newburgh Chapel. Visitation on Sunday, October 22, 2023, from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. with Masonic Lodge and Indiana Volunteer Firefighter Association services following visitation.
Visitation on Monday, October 23, 2023, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. with funeral services to follow with burial at Bates Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Indiana Volunteer Firefighter Association District 15 or Warrick County Fraternal Order of Police Scholarship Fund at any Lynnville National Bank location.
