He graduated from University of Evansville and went on to work as a teacher in the Catholic School System. To his beloved wife, Jenny, with whom he shared 28 beautiful years of marriage, and to his three children, Chuck wasn't just a husband and father; he was humble, faithful, a master storyteller, an educator at heart, and the ultimate keeper of memories. For 41 years, he dedicated his life to his students as a Catholic School Teacher, touching the lives of countless students, families, and colleagues. Many of these people became life long friends. Yet, as much as he shaped the lives of generations of students, he always maintained that his greatest accomplishment was his three children.
If you were lucky enough to sit with him, you were treated to an endless supply of golfing stories, tales of his grandparents, or walk-down memory lane detailing his decades in the classroom. Whether in the classroom, at Mass, or among family and friends, he led by example and treated every person with dignity and respect. His students remember him not only for what he taught, but for how deeply he cared.
He lived his 80 years—with an unbreakable spirit and a sharp wit. Throughout it all, Jenny was his rock, and his dedication to his family never wavered. He leaves Jenny, his children, and all who loved him with a lifetime of wisdom, and a blueprint for a life well-lived.
Chuck is survived by his wife Genevieve (Jenny) (Farrell) Masterson. His children Kelly (Matt) Megyese, Karen (Steve) Wahn, Tim (Kelly) Masterson. His grandchildren Isabel and Max Wahn; Laurel, Kate, and Gavin Masterson. His brother Dee (Terri) Masterson, niece and nephew. He was preceded in death by his daughter Beth Anne, his parents, Verne and Helen Masterson, his grandparents, and numerous aunts and uncles.
