

Charles Wayne Retter (Chuck), age 85, of Evansville, Indiana passed away peacefully in the early morning of June 4, 2025. Chuck was born in Akron, Ohio on May 27, 1940 to the late Alvin (Cotton) Retter and Ruby Elizabeth (Hayden) Retter.
Chuck graduated from Reitz Memorial High School in 1958 and retired from Alcoa in 1990. In 1979, Chuck married Darlene Muensterman-Fisher. They shared a beautiful life together for 45 years, until her passing in October of 2024.
Chuck spent many years working his small farm in Warrick County and enjoyed growing and harvesting the field crops, fruit trees and garden vegetables. He was an accomplished wood craftsman and shared his many creations with family and friends. As a lifelong “River Rat”, he enjoyed spending time camping, boating and fishing at the French Island area on the Ohio river creating lasting memories with family and friends. He was an avid reader and history buff. A favorite pass time was spending quiet time with nature and learning more about the many species of his native woods. Chuck’s family was his greatest joy.
He is survived by his children: Patrick (Dena) Retter, Cynthia (Stephen) Shoulders, Pamela (Randall) Block, Timothy (Debbie) Fisher and Michael (Jenna) Fisher; his brother Michael (Colleen) Retter; beloved grandchildren: Derrick Retter, S. Chad Shoulders, Ashley Retter, Abbi Shoulders-Killebrew, Samantha Ostendorf, Alexander Block, Benjamin Block, Logan Fisher, Toria Koester; 10 great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, cousins and Smokey, the cat.
Friends and Family are invited to gather on Friday, June 13, 2025 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. for a memorial visitation at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 1301 S. Green River Road, Evansville, IN, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. led by Father Bernie Etienne. Following services, Chuck will by laid to rest at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
Chuck’s sense of humor, wisdom and council will be deeply missed by his family and friends. He will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to the compassionate teams at Walnut Creek Memory Care and Heart to Heart Hospice.
