Cindy received both undergraduate and master’s degrees in education from the University of Evansville. She was a wonderful teacher with a creative way of reaching her students. Cindy volunteered in her church nursery, knitted hats for her community, and was very fond of sewing groups. She had a love of fashion, particularly shoes, which were her signature accessory. Her favorite holiday was Christmas; with the family meals and special gifts, always done with generosity and perfection, and her love of figure skating during the winter season. She had a softness in her heart and a colorful spirit that always shone brightly.
Cindy’s travels around the world were some of her favorite experiences. She had a love for adventure and enjoyed learning about new cultures. Her sense of humor was never far away and could always be counted on for a good laugh. Time with her girlfriends were some of her favorite memories. Her greatest love was her family. She remained very close to her two sisters and brother. She loved her children greatly, and adored her grandchildren.
She and former spouse, Frank Forbes, shared two children; Kelly Culiver (late husband Rick) of Newburgh, IN and Aaron Forbes (Stephanie) of Evansville, IN; grandchildren, Rick Culiver (Elizabeth) of Key West, FL, Mackenzie Greenwell of Austin, TX, Melanie Bozsa (Andrea Wirth) of Evansville, IN, Rodney Culiver (Teddi) of Key West, FL, Collin Culiver (Ashleigh) of Pleasanton, CA, Darby Forbes of Newburgh, IN, and four great grandchildren. Cindy is also survived by her siblings, Gilbert Himebaugh (Betty Clark) of Newburgh, IN, Sarah Ebbeler (Kurt) of Conroe, TX, and Beth Smith (Phil) of Charleston, SC. Cindy had her special companion, Cleo the cat, who always kept her laughing.
The family would like to extend special thanks to Rosemary Bozsa and Jane Baxter for their devotion and friendship.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday March 4, 2023 at Alexander Newburgh Chapel. Friends and family may visit from 11:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
