Obituary of Daniel E. Hirsch
Daniel Edward Hirsch, 60, of Newburgh peacefully passed away after a 2 ½ year battle with stomach cancer on Sunday, July 25, 2021, at his home, surrounded by his family. Dan was born January 3, 1961. Dan has been a member of IBEW Local 16 since 1983 as an electrician. He and his family have helped with IBEW set up the Fantasy of Lights display for the holiday season. Dan retired from SABIC in 2021. He started his lifelong love for racing as a young boy, helping his family with their race cars. Dan enjoyed racing modified midget cars and mini sprints, and enjoyed watching World of Outlaws Sprint Car racing. He could be found in his garage tinkering, making parts and troubleshooting electrical issues on his son’s race car. He was a member of Zion United Church of Christ in Newburgh. Dan was preceded in death by his father, James Hirsch; paternal grandparents, Ed and Catherine Hirsch, and maternal grandparents, Elmer and Laura Padgett. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Susie (Smith) Hirsch; son, Tim Hirsch (Raven Cochran); daughter, Anna Hirsch (Sam Borden); mother, Mary Rose Hirsch; sisters, Julie Hirsch and Rebecca (Hirsch) Walker; brother, Andy Hirsch (Susan), and many nieces and nephews. Dan and his family would like to thank Dr. Kodali and the staff at Deaconess Infusion Center for their care during Dan’s journey. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 31, 2021 at Alexander Newburgh Chapel, 5333 State Road 261, officiated by Rev. Dan Kennedy, with burial in Rose Hill Cemetery. Friends may visit 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday, July 30, 2021 and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
