Obituary of Della Lee Shiver
Della Lee Shiver, 89, passed away on Friday, March 13, 2020, at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born December 8, 1930 to Elwood and Ivorybell Baker. Della graduated Valedictorian of Newburgh High School in 1948, and became a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She was an active member of Gateway Baptist Church for 63 years, singing in the choir and teaching Sunday School. She served as president of the Paradise Home Extension club for many years. She has rejoined her parents; husband of 61 years, Frank; son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Donna Shiver; grandson, Jeremy Riley; and brother, Gary Baker. Della is survived by son Michael Shiver (Jo Ann); daughter Beverly Wilson (Willie); grandsons, Tim Shiver, Mark Shiver (Tamara), Joshua Barfoot (Heather); granddaughters, Jennifer Campbell (John), Jaime Shiver (Scott), Erica Fording (Brett), Christie Woodlief (Daniel), and 11 great grandchildren. The family would like to thank Melissa Battieger for being a loving caregiver these last few weeks. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 18, 2020, at Alexander Newburgh Chapel, officiated by Pastor Mike Claypool, with entombment at Oak Hill Mausoleum. Friends may visit Tuesday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Gateway Baptist Church, 7564 SR66, Newburgh, IN 47630.
