Dixie Lynn (Barton) Lynn

She grew up a faithful Catholic attending St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. Dixie attended Yankeetown Elementary School and graduated from Castle High School in 1983. She attended the University of Evansville for several years and then went on to work at American General Finance. She then went on to receive a degree in Industrial Management from Ivy Tech. After attending a 3-year apprenticeship program through Alcoa starting in 1998, she became a Journeyman Roll Grinder. She worked for Alcoa and Kaiser Aluminum companies and retired at the end of 2025. She was a member of the Alcoa Life Committee for many years, coordinating and assisting in company employee events.

Dixie had 26 wonderful years of marriage with the love of her life, Mark. They were married April 15, 2000 at St. John East United Church of Christ. She was a devoted member of Salem Church of Darmstadt since 2005; and helped with the nursery, Sunday school, and also vacation bible school. She also served on the Board of Christian Education multiple times. Dixie had a love for painting, pottery, arts & crafts, and taking photos. She often said she should have gotten into photography. She was a great cook and baker. Dixie loved making her casserole dishes for her family and enjoyed decorating desserts, especially during various holidays. Dixie took a lot of pride in event planning, even with a small family gathering, making sure everyone enjoyed it, especially the kids. It allowed her to really dive into her creative “fun” side. She also spent some time volunteering at assisted living facilities. Dixie’s most important things were her faith & family, always thinking and helping everyone else before herself.

She was preceded in death by her father, Charles “Bob” Robert Barton; and mother-in-law, Alice Lynn.

Dixie is survived by her loving husband of 26 years, Mark Lynn; children, Ethan Lynn and Andrew Lynn; mother, Joyce “Jody” Barton; father-in-law, Shelby Lynn; sister-in-law, Julie Titzer (Randy); brother-in-law, Michael Lynn (Marcia); many aunts, uncles, nieces, cousins, great nieces, and great nephews; and very close lifelong friends, Tammy Rolink (David) and Amy Elsner (Joe).

Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday, July 31, 2026 at Alexander Newburgh Chapel, 5333 State Road 261. A funeral service will be 10:30 a.m., Saturday, August 1, 2026 at Salem Church of Darmstadt, 14134 Darmstadt Road, officiated by Pastor David Peterson, with interment in Salem Church of Darmstadt Cemetery. Family and friends can visit Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until service time at the church.

The Family requests that family and friends join them for a noon meal following services at the Vanderburgh County 4-H Center hosted in the auditorium, 201 E Boonville-New Harmony Rd, Evansville, IN 47725.
