Doris I Schmidt Carrell

She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. She was a nurse at St. Mary’s Medical Center and retired from the Evansville Protestant Home. She enjoyed playing clabber with her life-long friends since in 1959, and loved Cardinal baseball. She was the past President of the Newburgh Youth Foundation, and loved working in her flower garden.

Doris was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry, in 1977; son-in-law, Blane Hall; and her parents.

She is survived by sons, Jeffrey (Terri) of Russellville, KY, Steven (Lisa) of Lebanon, TN; Joel (Ruth) of Chandler; daughters, Roxanne (Sam) Wise of Newburgh, Mary (Mike) Virgin of Chandler, Stacey (Skip) Hutson of Chandler; sisters, Mary Jolene Patterson, Jeanette Williams, Ruthie Baughn (Larry); and brother, Gene Schmidt (Joyce) all of Newburgh; grandchildren, Jerry, Thomas, Andrea, Justin, Lexie, Mariah, Holli, Matt, Stephanie, April, Danielle, Jamie, Mandy, Jesse, Whitney, and Sam; great grandchildren, Ava, Grayson, Warrick, Ryker, Maelynn, Liam and Blake; and many nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Mass will be 1:00 PM, Friday, October 21, 2011, at St. John the Baptist Church in Newburgh, officiated by Father Joseph Ziliak, with burial at St. John’s Cemetery. Friends may visit Thursday, 4:00 – 8:00 PM, at Alexander Newburgh Chapel and Friday, noon until service time at the church.
