

Douglas earned his bachelor of science degree from Iowa State University, where he was a proud member of the Acacia Fraternity. He later received his Juris Doctor from Indiana University in 1981. He became a partner with the law firm of Statham, Allega & Jessen, which served as legal counsel for Deaconess Hospital, and practiced law until his retirement in 2021.
He was a faithful member of Hopelight Community Church. Throughout his life, he enjoyed many hobbies, including competing in chess tournaments during college, bowling, golfing, and fishing. He loved sharing his passions for these hobbies with his children and grandchildren, creating many happy memories. He was also heavily involved with the Evansville Recreational Youth Soccer League, serving as President for five years. Above all, Douglas was a devoted father who took great pride in supporting his children and participating in their activities.
Douglas is survived by his wife, Marjorie Jessen; children, Elizabeth Jessen, Matthew Jessen (Christina), Brian Jessen, and Kimberly Kroll (Kurt); grandchildren, Jackson Jessen, Holly Jessen, Marlie Vickers, Morrison Vickers, Virginia Jessen, Vernon Jessen and Gage Kroll, and several great grandchildren.
A Funeral Service will be 11:00 a.m., Monday July 13, 2026 at Alexander Newburgh Chapel, 5333 State Road 261, officiated by Pastor Jerry Daniels. His final resting place will be in Union Cemetery, Fairfield, IL. Family and friends may visit Monday from 10:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
