She began her career at Old National Bank, where she worked until starting her family. Later, she became a cafeteria cook at St. John's Catholic School and afterward was employed by Brinks Inc. before retiring. Elizabeth continued to share her talents by overseeing the kitchen for the St. John's summer social and preparing meals for the diocesan priests' retreat for many years.
She loved cooking and enjoyed spending time in her garden with her mother and beloved dogs. She often would share her garden produce with friends and neighbors. Elizabeth had a warm personality and a wonderful sense of humor. She was a devoted member of St. John’s Newburgh parish where she enjoyed volunteering in numerous roles and had a generous, selfless spirit.
Elizabeth was known for taking great pride in her appearance, never leaving the house without her hair just so. Her daughters and family knew, however, that while she enjoyed looking her best, her inner beauty, kindness, and love far outshone any lipstick or perfectly styled hair.
Later in life, she discovered the musical group Il Volo and became a devoted fan. She attended two concerts with VIP tickets and a meet and greet experience and even had front row tickets for her most recent concert in March. Every night she would watch YouTube performances of the group to fall asleep. Her daughters are thankful that she was listening to her favorite music when she passed.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ken Drury; brother, Joe Franey; grandson, Brock Towns; niece, Sharon Franey.
Elizabeth is survived by her daughters, Kristine Towns, Lesley Drury (David) and Dana Drury (Tim); grandchildren, Piper Huebner and Brody, Belle, Blaine and Delaney Towns; sister, Rosemary Wigger, sister-in-law, Betty Franey; and nieces and nephews, Buddy Franey, Tress Bailey, Kara Franey, Chuck Wigger and Kelly Keown.
The family would like to thank the staff with St. Croix Hospice for their wonderful and compassionate care of Elizabeth.
