Elvis James Wathen II, 60, of Newburgh passed away on December 5, 2020 at home surrounded by his loved ones and family. He was born January 14, 1960 in Evansville, IN. Elvis was raised on a farm in Newburgh and graduated from Castle High School. He is preceded in death by his father “Pops” James Jordan Wathen; his step mother, Nancy Ann Wathen; and a sister, Mary Elizabeth Mullikin.
Elvis married the love of his life and best friend, Karen (Cooper) Wathen on March 27, 1998. They raised three beautiful children together of which Elvis was very proud including Katelyn who still resides at home finishing high school. Elvis was an incredibly hard worker and loved his job. He owned and operated B & B Mowing which served many families and businesses in the local community faithfully for over 20 years. He had a love of the outdoors and liked to spend most of his time there. When Elvis was not outside tinkering or working on something in the garage or under the carport, he could be found enjoying time with his friends and family. Elvis spent a great deal of his time with his partner in crime and next door neighbor, Larry Quick. Elvis loved to camp, race mud trucks, skeet shoot, and just spend time with his loved ones. Elvis had a personality that was larger than life and many would note that you would never meet anyone like him. If you knew him, you loved him and once you loved him you were family. Elvis hated to be late for anything, always had the last word, and could consistently be found at the front of the food line. Most importantly, he was a loving husband, father, grandpa, and friend. Elvis could always be counted on to be there for his family and friends.
Elvis is survived by his wife, Karen Wathen; sons, Brandon Wathen (Tajee) of Murfreesboro, TN and Bryan Fodge (Keli) of Chandler, IN; daughter, Katelyn Wathen; eight grandchildren, Jasmine, Aden, James, and Brady Wathen and Kayleigh, Logan, Connor, and Emaleigh Fodge; brother, Wayne Wathen; sister, Lisa White (David); mother in law, Betty Carter (Robert) and a very large extended family that will miss him dearly.
