Evalyn Imogene (Fischer) Cooksey

Evalyn Imogene (Fischer) Cooksey, 100, of Newburgh passed away at her home with her children by her side on Saturday, January 15, 2022. She was born March 21, 1921 in Ellery, IL to the late Charles and Fannie (Pierce) Fischer.
She graduated from Lockyear Business College in Evansville. Evalyn married Jack B. Cooksey in Orlando, FL on March 16, 1946. She retired from the Evansville Vanderburgh School Corporation in 1984 as Secretary of Personnel, and was a member of Newburgh United Methodist Church. She enjoyed cooking and family get togethers, whether at home or in Illinois, Florida, Indiana or Washington.
Evalyn was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Jack Cooksey (2009); sisters, Elizabeth Baskett and Edythe Proctor; daughters-in-law, Barb Cooksey and Becky Cooksey; great granddaughter, Onekah Grace Eisenhauer; nephew, Allan Proctor, and niece, Katie Proctor-Schiff.
She is survived by daughters, Beth Reising (Randy) and Jerry Crawford (Greg); son, Chuck Cooksey; grandchildren, Adam Reising, Jaima Eisenhauer (Daniel), Tricia Riveire-Stumpf (Jeff), Amy Hahaj (Ryan) and Sarah Payton (Luke); great grandchildren, Aven Reising, Nadia, J Berke and Ilyse Eisenhauer, Madalynn and Jack Riveire, George and Benedict Stumpf, Raegan and Baylor Hahaj, and Will and Dane Payton, and foster brother, Bob F. Green (Betty) of Ellery, IL.
The family would like to extend special thanks to Heart to Heart Hospice for their compassionate care.
A Funeral Service will be 12:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 19, 2022 at Alexander Newburgh Chapel, 5333 State Road 261, officiated by Lawrence Hurley, with burial in Maple Grove Cemetery, Boonville, IN. A livestream of the service will be available at www.facebook.com/FuneralStreamUSA. Friends and family may visit 10:00 a.m. until service time Wednesday at the funeral home.
