Francisco “Frank” Fernandes, 94, of Newburgh, IN, passed away peacefully Monday, October 31, 2016, at his home. He was born October 15, 1922, in Lisbon, Portugal to the late Francisco and Maria Fernandes.
He worked in the fishing industry as a fishing net repairman. Frank enjoyed watching soccer, his favorite team was Benfica. His greatest joys were his grandkids and great-grandkids.
Frank was preceded in death by his wife, Maria (daConceicao) Fernandes; sisters, Maria Amelia Fernandes, Suzete Cintra, and Maria Amalia Silva.
He is survived by his son, Nelson Fernandes (Elizabeth); granddaughters, Debbie Ash (Gary), Michelle Jobe (Loyd), Diana Deters (Jon); great-grandchildren, Leanza Ash, Nature Marshall, Jakob Whaley, Skylar Marshall, Peyton Deters, Isabella Jobe, and Avery Deters.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 AM, Thursday, November 3, 2016, at Alexander Newburgh Chapel officiated by Elder Richard Gregg with burial in Rose Hill Cemetery. Friends may visit 4-7 pm on Wednesday at the funeral home.
