Fred’s parents made sure the family went to church together every Sunday at St. Lucas UCC on Virginia St. in Evansville. Fred was confirmed there. He graduated from W.H. Growing up, Fred enjoyed traveling with his family in their “pop-up” camper, to such places as the Smokeys, Colorado, Michigan, Florida, etc. In Jr. High, Fred took up archery and became quite accomplished, competing at the State level. Fred had a very good singing voice and in high school he played the lead male role in several HS musicals. As an adult, Fred liked to go white water rafting. He tells the story of “how I spent a week under the raft one Saturday afternoon” on a trip down the Gauley River in W. Virginia. Two of his favorite pass times were playing golf and smoking cigars…often done together. After graduating from IU, Fred worked as an Investment Advisor at IDS, Salesman at Faultless Caster up in Wisconsin, and then in Sales at Evansville Supply Company. Fred was a recovered alcoholic, having recently received his 27-year coin. He was actively involved at the “Old Stone” and helped many others over the years.
