As a fellow member of Veterans For Peace I met Gary on the bus ride to Washington DC for an anti war rally in 2005. On the ride back we sat together and found we had a similar back round in engineering, feelings regarding military issues, and political views.
Gary struck me as the strong silent type. Many times we participated in public VFP events where Gary's charm and wit reflected very positively on our chapter. I was proud to stand beside him.
My wife sat with Kris more than a few times as they added their support while we marched in parades around the area. Her passing was a very sad moment for everyone who knew her.
Although Gary was a private person and we didn't see each other outside of the chapter events he did drive his highly regarded HD Ford pick up with trailer in tow to my place where we loaded a Bridgeport milling machine he purchased. I thought many times of dropping in on him, but didn't
You, like me, have been very fortunate to have had a person like Gary in our lives!
