

Gayle Jean Winstead, 80, of Newburgh, peacefully left this life to join her friends and family in Christ in heaven on August 1, 2015, at The Charlier Hospice Center. She was born February 9, 1935, in Chandler, to the late Almond and Helen Akin.
She was a 1953 graduate of Newburgh High School. She was a life-long member of Gateway Baptist Church in Newburgh, and a leader of the Paradise Girls 4-H Club for many years. She was a retired secretary with the Evansville-Vanderburgh School Corporation, a Pink Lady at Deaconess Hospital, and volunteered in the gift shop at Deaconess Gateway.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Gayle is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Woodrow Wilson Winstead, Jr. of Newburgh; brother, Gary Akin and sister-in-law, Nikki Robb-Akin of Houston, TX; sister, Nancy Buchanan of Winter Garden, FL; daughters, Pamela Farmer, Karen (Lee) Miller, and Terri (David) Gore, all of Newburgh, IN; sons, Roger (Mary) Winstead of Grayslake, IL and Jerald (Dina) Winstead of Henderson, KY; grandchildren, Sara Hall, Travis Farmer, Mindy Enlow, Neil Miller, Chance Farmer, Carla Geiser, Dylan Winstead, Benjamin Partridge, Lucas Winstead, Lisa Marie Hill, Owen Winstead, Samantha Winstead, and Jonathan Winstead; great-grandchildren, Braxton, Brodie, Brooks, and Adalyn Farmer, Clara and Cooper Hall, and Marcus and Abigayle Miller; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be 1:00 PM Wednesday, August 5, 2015, at Gateway Baptist Church, 7564 State Road 66, Newburgh, officiated by Stacey McGill, with burial in Sunset Memorial Park. Friends may visit Tuesday from 2:30 to 8:00 PM at
Alexander Newburgh Chapel, 5333 State Road 261, Newburgh.
