Born on November 17, 1942, in Princeton, Indiana, Janice was the daughter of the late Clay and Irma Lee Lantrip.
She is survived by her loving husband of 36 years, Michael Grismore; daughters Cheryl Greer-Reels and Sonya Sloan; stepson Eric Grismore (Candi); grandchildren Chelsea Erickson (David), Alex Sloan, Ryan Garden (Brooke), Kaitlyn Randall (Cole), and Brianna Grismore; and great-grandson, Weston Randall.
Janice enjoyed a long and successful career in purchasing with Siemens in Princeton, Indiana. Following retirement, she and Michael embraced their love of travel, visiting many destinations across the country. Among her favorites were Williamsburg, Virginia, and Sevierville.
Her happiest place, however, was Satellite Beach, Florida. Janice and Michael spent their winter months at Las Olas Beach Club, where she formed treasured friendships and served on the Board of Directors. Las Olas was far more than a vacation destination, it was a community she dearly loved.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Janice’s dear friend and neighbor, Susan Poindexter, whose friendship, kindness, and unwavering support meant so much to Janice over the years. Susan’s care and concern brought comfort not only to Janice, but also to her family, who will always be grateful for the love she showed.
The family would also like to thank Tim, Chris, Chelsea, Anna, Patty, Karen, and the entire staff at Las Olas Beach Club for the kindness, friendship, and care they provided throughout the years.
In addition to traveling, Janice enjoyed attending productions at the Cumberland County Playhouse. She was known for her beautiful singing voice and never passed up an opportunity to sing karaoke. Her favorite songs were Crazy by Patsy Cline and Coal Miner’s Daughter by Loretta Lynn.
During the winter months, Janice could often be found cheering on her beloved Kentucky Wildcats men’s basketball. She bled blue, celebrated every victory, endured every defeat, and, to the very end, never quite forgave Christian Laettner.
Janice will be remembered for her warmth, her sense of humor, her love of family and friends, and her ability to make lasting connections wherever life took her. She leaves behind countless memories and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
Visitation will be held on Thursday June 11, 2026 from 2:00pm-7:00pm at Alexander Funeral Home- Newburgh Chapel. No other services will be held locally.
